Polo in the Pines is dedicated to the mission funding specific cancer research, raising awareness and family support via our charity partners. It is a privilege partnering with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to continue the legacy of giving through The Sharon McCollum Knight, Polo in the Pines Pediatric Cancer Research Fund held at Children's Foundation.
In 2012 Sharon's daughter, Tina Fowler, founded Polo in the Pines to honor her mother's dream of funding research and to inspire others through the personal journeys we share. On May 3, 2017 (28th anniversary of Sharon's initial leiomyosarcoma cancer diagnosis) Polo in the Pines established the fund honoring Sharon's legacy. Tina and her husband, Matt Fowler (childhood cancer survivor of Hodgkin's) remain humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve with this great mission while empowering others to do the same.
Our 2017 honorees were sisters Saville & Lilia Sullivan(Albany, GA), diagnosed with two different types brain cancer within three weeks of one another last year. Click here to watch a video of their journey. Lilia and Saville have both been treated at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
It is a privilege to announce our 2018 honoree, Caroline Brewer (Age 4, Atlanta, GA). The Sullivan sisters met Caroline February of last year. They bonded instantly with each other and their beloved Dr. Andrew Reisner, Neurosurgeon at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
All donations and proceeds from 2017 & 2018 are dedicated specifically to pediatric brain tumor research through the Polo in the Pines Pediatric Cancer Research Fund held at Children's Foundation. Polo in the Pines is a 100% volunteer based nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission we serve. Please join us as we embrace this unfathomable journey with the Sullivan and Brewer families to raise awareness and money to fund critical research.
